Advantages

Enhanced degradation

SUCH4@MMT exhibited enhanced peroxymonosulfate activation efficiency compared to pure sucrose hydrochar, achieving 88.19% degradation of quinclorac in soil within 12 h.

Less toxic byproducts

The degradation intermediates were much less toxic than quinclorac, with significant reduction in quinclorac-induced phytotoxicity to tomato plants.

Diverse reactive species

Surface features including sp2 carbon, carbonyl groups, and carbon defects contributed to PMS activation, producing SO4•−, •OH, O2•−, and 1O2.
