Advantages

Dramatically improved wear resistance

The volumetric wear rate decreased by ~88.3%, nearly one order of magnitude lower than MAO coating, outperforming coatings with only nanoparticle doping or laser assistance.

Significantly reduced porosity

Nanoparticles fill micropores, reducing porosity by ~41.3% compared to MAO coating, resulting in a denser coating.

Enhanced coating adhesion

Laser irradiation promotes uniform coating growth and lower surface roughness, leading to enhanced coating adhesion and improved service reliability.

Elevated hardness

More ZrO₂ nanoparticles enter the coating and stable phases (rutile-TiO₂ and t-ZrO₂) are formed, elevating coating hardness and thus improving anti-wear performance.
