Advantages
Fast and accurate modeling
By combining block placement with a rebound mechanism, complex collision detection is avoided, greatly improving efficiency.
Accurate for high VBP
The VGS method developed for high volumetric block proportions achieves deviations as low as 0.11%–0.15%.
Works with DEM
When blocks are modeled as spheres in discrete element simulation, deviations remain low at 0.35%–0.90% for high VBP.
Applications
- Geotechnical numerical simulation:Quickly generate high-precision 3D models, saving modeling time and improving computational reliability.
- Block-in-matrix composites:Two algorithms handle different block proportions, overcoming limitations of traditional modeling.
