Simultaneously modulates solvation and electric double-layer configuration, using an inert diluent to form a protective layer on electrode surfaces, widening the electrochemical stability window to 5.73 V and enabling supercapacitors to achieve cycling stability at 3.2 V comparable to commercial devices at 2.7 V.
