Advantages

Enhanced close-range damage

Under explosive loading, the composite generates high-density, relatively uniformly distributed metal powder particles, improving close-range impact effects while reducing collateral damage.

Simulation validated

The developed mesoscale finite element model shows an overall error of less than 5% compared to experiments under various conditions, validating its accuracy.

Composition tunable

Adjusting tungsten mass fraction from 70 wt% to 90 wt% changes the shock velocity–particle velocity slope from 2.792 to 2.957, allowing control of the shock response.

Particle size tunable

Increasing tungsten particle size from 200 μm to 600 μm decreases the slope from 3.204 to 2.756 and increases c0 from 224.7 to 633.3, fine-tuning impact behavior.
